Akismet is against adverse comments WordPress plugin. It is even installed base and you have more than to activate it so that it works. Yet despite the effectiveness of the plugin you will still need to spend a few minutes per day to sort spam and not spam. Of course there is minimal risk of Akismet error (of the order of 1% see less).

Discover why to monitor adverse, follow the guide…

When you go to your WordPress menu, in the comments link you will discover several tris. There is first of all comments without distinction, then comments waiting for replay (those of the first commentators for example), then comments approved, then the adverse comments, then finally the Recycle Bin.

Comments marked as spam by Akismet is located in the front last sort: "adverse". According to the popularity of your blog and the number of comments you receive per day, I advise you to look in this folder once a week to once a day.

From my side for example I often receive 100 to 200 comments "spam" per day. And in the heap, it is not uncommon to find 2-3 quite legitimate comments.

You can tell you that with a ratio of 1% of errors (see less), it is not really necessary to do the work of sorting. Think again! If a comment from a reader real, quite good, is found in spam, and you do to not go out it, the commentator risk of evil take.

Do you really want that you make the bad pub and say that you censurez no reason while it is just Akismet that put poorly? Of course not, therefore, did not forget to check regularly!

Please not also prevent your commentators upstream with a Charter of the commentator. You can also indicate what you expect of your commentators.

If you look at your comments pages, there are only 20 comments on each page. If you receive very little feedback (and therefore spam) this can enough you. For me and all those who have unwanted comments per day 100, it was not enough.

I therefore looked what I could do and I found the file to edit to change this number. We must therefore go to the folder of your blog and then in /wp-admin/includes /. Then choose the file class-wp-comments-list - table .php and download it to your desktop.

After with a code as Notepad ++ Editor open the file in question and look for the line:$ comments_per_page = $this-> get_per_page ($comment_status);
Comment this line with the characters / / just ahead for it looks like this: //$comments_per_page = $this-> get_per_page ($comment_status);
Then just below, by skipping a line, write:$ comments_per_page = 100;
With 100 which will be equal to the number of comments per page that you want. You can put 50 or 200 for example. Namely that This will apply to all lists of comments (approved, adverse, awaiting moderation).

And this, I hope that this little reminder of how Akismet works will give you the urge to sort your comments. It's really important to not delete real comments that would be lost.
