I am a blogger for three years now, and even if I am not a pro, I have learned what works and what doesn't.
Let's be honest. Blogging looks like a job full time. If you want to build a professional networking platform and get something from there, you need something. As luke warm with blogs and expected results are not possible.
New bloggers will have to devote time, passion and belief in the blogs.
Discover what that moves you and write about it. Over time, if fellow readers benefit from what you write, they will return for more information. Readers are not looking for a renowned published author, they are looking for what is real and what is you. Bloggers often identify with a heart felt story and what is happening in your life. Try not to someone that you are not - no deceptions are allowed in the blog world. Who you are and to be well.
If you have drives, make sure you give them the same equal amount of time that they give to you. It may be time to visit each person that wrote it a nice comment, but it will be profitable. Not only you will make your delighted readers that you gave them the time of day, but you will build a readership that will very likely be stick into the future. Don't get caught up in numbers, but build relationships. Relations will reward you with substantial readers that in time you will be probably build friendships with these people.
Implement a nice design who shouts "Hello - it's me!" and blog frequently. You are more likely to be forgotten if you blog once a week or once a month as opposed to daily or every other day. Implement a model of blogging and continue to be consistent. Readers will understand if you go on vacation, but have invited bloggers take your place or let your readers know that you will be absent for a certain period.
Familiarize yourself with the blogging communities and join a few. Blog catalog and 20 something bloggers are a few examples to start. You will find bloggers with similar interests, comment on their walls or pages and find tips on what is current and hot in the industry of blogs. Also, make sure you set up your own profile with all your links from social media to drive traffic to your site!
Return to passion, this word really is the key in the blogs. Having passion for what write you on the subject and faithful to what you like and brings you joy in life will take you far. If you start getting burned, take a break. Take the time to "live", but also to share your daily events with your readers. Even the mundane can be transformed into something exciting. Every day, you will learn something new and according to the where your blog takes you, I am sure that you won't regret it. I do.
