How to put a favicon (icon) on our website or blog

After popular demand of several acquaintances, I decided to publish in this tutorial sencilisimo we have to do it so that instead of "and" Internet Explorer appears in the tab of the browser, or the same address bar, a logo (which is known as a favicon) to our choice. In our case it's a face made from the letters b and p. For those who still did not fall, or use another browser, we must look in the small icon that appears on the left side of the address of the page web that you are visiting.

To facilitate even more things, I have differentiated between WordPress, Blogger, and Web in which the anadiremos playing a little bit the code (not complicated).

First and foremost, we need an image in *.ico or size 16 x 16 *.png format (although if an old version of Internet Explorer is not used are perfectly allowed 32 x 32 images that may be, indeed, of other formats). If we do not have any editor of images allowing us to save as *.ico there are many websites that allow to create your own favicon online starting from scratch or an image and download it later. Here I leave with you some examples of pages from which you can transform your image into a favicon and download it later:

This tutorial is valid for all those who use WordPress hosted on a server, and not the WordPress.com. In the event that use WordPress on a server, to get to display the desired substitute icon of the "e", is so basic as using any plugin created for this, that there are a few, as for example, Shockingly Simple Favicon, which has no mystery. Even so, I would recommend doing it the way I explain below.

If you do not want too load your blog adding plugins (better to harness them for something that merits) you can always follow in the footsteps of as Add favicon to your site I explain a little further down and modify the code.

You will have that do it through "Appearance" "Editor" from the desktop of WordPress. From there we will access the section called Header or header if what you have translated, and once there follow the above steps. Only it is add a line of code, you will see that it's nothing complicated and in 5 minutes what you have done.

First and foremost, we will go to the Administration Panel of the blog, "Design" and "elements of the page".

Once there we give click Edit right next to where put Favicon. It is time to upload the prepared image, which in this case must be in format *.ico and less than 10 kb. Of course, always should be a square image. And nothing else, we already have it ready!

To make things easier and be able to use all the same line of code, we call the image favicon.ico and her save in the root of your domain. To do this you can use either a program of Filezilla and will be as simple as drag it to the directory that you are interested, normally inside public_html. Another way of doing this is through the cPanel of your web hosting (if applicable) using any tool available for managing files.

Then only we must add this fragment of code between the tags and from our website. (Gives the same position when you are between the two tags).

The code to add is as follows:

Replaced blogspopuli.com with your domain name (in case of bringing the www incluyelas) and voila, we already have our own favicon!

If you have saved in any folder in particular, only you will need to modify the address in the codico to locate him properly.

If you still have any, please leave a comment and I will try to resolve it you!
