Google today launched the beginnings of an API for Google + social network society.
API to allow external developers to connect with and build applications to web services like Facebook, Twitter and now Google +. In fact, much of the success of Twitter and Facebook is the result of developer of these two services APIs. If Google is to have any hope of catching his competitors he needs a strong API.
Unfortunately that Google unveiled for the moment not much of an API. The current version of the Google API + limit developers to access in read-only public positions. If you were hoping to see apps followed your circles or allowing you to publish an application of Office the new API will leave wanting you.
Currently, the Google API + is little more than a way easier and officially sanctioned by of the scratch public Google + positions of the screen.
Google is aware of gaps APIs, calling it a "first stage" and the Google API + future expansion plans. Probably the first agenda will add write access to that external applications can interact with Google + rather that consume simply Google + positions.
Of course if you tried to add Google + support to your application without these APIs, you can throw your HTML parser and enjoy RESTful methods that return JSON to a properly authenticated application (authentication is handled by OAuth 2). Google has also published a set of client libraries for Python, Ruby, PHP and other popular languages.
It is limited at the moment, but if you want to start now, so that you know what is happening at the arrival of the full version, head on the Google + platform blog has a short tutorial and many examples of code for roll you.
