As a professional copywriter is one issue which is normally constantly pop up from my readers and clients. "Can you teach me to write like you?"
My belated response is usually something like "Unified Messaging. # There is no other like me! I reign! Me! Me! Me! "
Okay I'm not really the egocentric.
But I usually answer something along the lines of "I'd love to teach you how, but I don't know how I do it … I just do it "and then I ran away in a dark corner somewhere there are sweet potato fries, how are they going outta style.
Hard to write meaningful and effective content of day and day. To say the least.
I have a lot of thought about how I get it done and come up 3 step that serve me well, again and again.
At least that's how I think I get it done
I struggled to convey just how I (and others I admire) actually write the way I do.
I wanted to teach it in a way you, the reader, you can adopt and immediately implement on your own.
This is one issue which will not. Stay Tuned. Down! Kinda like that game where you beat the hedgehog down, then one identical pops up to take its place? Yes. Something like that.
It seems that in my rather sinuous path to become a ghostwriter diploma blogger, I unexpectedly stumbled upon something that appears to be the Holy Grail for many aspiring writers.
I'm talking about my vote.
It is different. I like to think it's funny and charming. I was told, it's pretty non-bulls ***.
First of all, this is my, oh, oh my!
Regardless of where I'm guest blogging my voice is detected.
People read my stuff, and they, like "Hey ... I know who it is! "
This occurs even if you don't yet know that I am, in fact, the author. My friend Abby Kerr makes it very well too.
You could say that this vote has become part of my "brand".
Thus, in the interest of fighting the good fight and the teaching of ya'll something useful ... Now I will try to give you some pointers on how to open your own voice and write content that oozes his own flava.
In this process, you can even begin to find ways to brand yourself (so be ready!).
Here are my 3 key steps to finding your voice and brand mojo writer style.
It may come as a surprise, but not everyone who reads your site will be Harvard Grad that said "ivy league" or any other language you specialize in.
Most people reading online reading at grade level.
This means that all these big words you use make people run screaming in the other direction.
This also means that cool industry jargon, you are so proud thrown around primarily falls on deaf ears.
Probably not what you intended to happen right?
When we write, we create the content to. We want people to read it to understand it, to enjoy and absorb it.
May be we want them to take action — maybe we just want them to feel good, after reading it.
They will only feel a whole lot of frustrating if all you say whips directly over your head or they feel like you are talking to them, because you can't control your insane need to seem smarter than you probably.
The Council is not quite warm and fuzzy, right?
Stop talking to your readers.
Stop talking over them.
Stop talking through them.
Talk to them in simple jargon.
Write as you plopped down and sharing a cup of coffee and a convo. My buddy SuiteJ pretty much nails the style and implements tip number 3 (we'll get to it soon) like gangbusters!
What were the results? You may be surprised how many of them are ready to talk with you again.
All of the skill of writing in the world won't do you any favors if you don't know why you write in the first place.
Death of success is the lack of goals.
When you write something that has a clear purpose is reflected in a positive way. There is a thread, there is a rhythm and a direction.
If you write without purpose, it's sort of like doing one of those writing exercises where you just slap every thought that pops into your head on paper.
Have you ever tried then read these things? Crikey, this gives me a headache just thinking about it.
If you're serving for your readers, you could also give away free Tylenol in little blog goodie bags. At least, it would be helpful!
So if you want to catch your own unique "voice" you need to start with a purpose.
The purpose is passion.
From the passion of you were born, in all your unique glory.
Each piece of content that you publish should be addressed in more than one!
And it's fine in my last Tip …
In addition to the language of your reader and knowing why you write in the first place, sprinkle your work freely with your own little marks of distinction.
For example, people who read my books often recognize my vote just because I'm using words like Shite or frack or ya 'll. Or even crikey.
Maybe there are words that you tend to gravitate to on a regular basis, which may be not everyone uses.
Or maybe you have a specific signature "as" di do "or" fare thee well ", you use regularly.
Maybe it's not the words you use, but in the way you link them together.
Perhaps you would like to bring the stupid joke or cliche in your content. (That would be me!) Or maybe you mad uncomfortable with writing with a bit of humor and prefer to adopt 100% serious tone. This remains the branding and that's okay, too (although he could not win you many friends, just sayin').
Regardless of what you would like to tac TIC, there are many ways you can customize your content and use your quirks, so that it reflects you and allows you to "voice" for glitter.
You just have to find them.
There now. I hope that you find useful these three tips.
It is sometimes difficult to catch how to find your "voice".
This process is often different for each, and some people come to them easier than others. This does not mean that he could not get though, and if it can be studied can be taught!
I hope you learned a little something here today, and if you have questions, please write them in the comments below.
And if you want more teaching, perhaps Brian and Sonia would invite me back something
Oh and don't forget people … Exchange of sexy! (No, really, I swear! it! just ask Christie!)
