Why less is more: a rule of fashion blogging

For those of you who read my blog for some time, I guess, that you may have noticed that I am removing social left and right buttons. There are also a few numbers displayed and some hidden.

I think that there is a rule of mode that we can and should apply to blogs - less is more (most of the time).

Some of the things that you can display on your single blog, sidebar, footer, where ever, are social sharing buttons, shares toolbars, buttons, etc. to vote. As far the numbers, you can display your followers on social networks such as Facebook and Twitter, count of subscribers Feedburner or rank Alexa.

Many. Social proof. As simple as that.

I do not display my Twitter followers count because I'm not after numbers y. I am after interaction and I to 900-1. 000 followers.

Thus, if a new player comes to my blog, and it is accustomed to see 20,000 + followers on blogs, it usually reads, it think my number is low. I know that this is not because most of these people are those who actually follow me because we interact or they read something good, that I wrote.

I show my Alexa rank because it is good and it is smaller than every week (and you know with the smallest Alexa the better).

I do not display my Feeburner County because it is not 500 + yet. And I do so until it is this bulk. I saw a vote of blogging site that displays the count of Feedburner which is actually lower than mine would be. To speak of "not so great" social proof.

I display my number of Facebook fan pages, although it is only 200 +. I think that any page that has 100 + fans is a page with a number of nice. Yes, I know that some have more than 5,000 fans, but my blog is pretty new and I am pleased that I have.

So not show numbers that are not showing you more favorable. Not because you do not want people to know them, but because these are the things a new drive will focus on. If they are low it will probably leave.

If Kiesha has launched a new blog and tell us it was his, you would be y go and it would have 3 Facebook fans and one would think "" Oh, it's a new blog and probably not really good, with only 3 fans "." Then, you click on. You have gone from a blog where a blogger really very well written great posts…

Do not put too many of them. People more choice, is the less likely that they will use.

We do not have much time and we share (99% of the time) on 1 may up to 3, social/voting site.

Where do you want people to share your content? Anywhere? I don't think so.

The buttons that make you available should be those who bring you the most traffic. Thus, instead of having all the social voting, sharing and the implementation of bookmark sites, I removed most of them.

I removed Digg because I do not think one of my posts will get 200 Diggs and make me some amounts crazy traffic. But I stumble over because that it brings me 1,000 visitors per day, sometimes.

I removed Serpd because it does lead me almost all the traffic, but I BloKube because it is one of my best traffic referrals vote.

Scan your traffic report, see sharing works of the site for you and the rest of the discharge. Since I dumped Digg, my traffic went down. So I'm not losing anything.

I've given people less choice and "fact" shares (if they want to share in all) on the sites I want to share my content on.

Apply these two simple tips and see the difference, I bet that there will be some!
