I remember frantically research around a mobile theme installed on my blog. With all smartphones which became more popular a few years ago, I saw the need to take into account their limited navigation capabilities.
Periodically, even my blog, such as the famous bloggers, encouraging bloggers to host their mobile viewers.
Not to Miss mobile traffic! Not to miss an opportunity to monetize your mobile theme! Blah Blah Blah!
What I have to make a mobile browser is that I really hate mobile themes! I hate the feature limited these themes. Immediately seek the "switch in the Office" or "disable mobile" options. I lose everything a few precious moments that I had to check the blog updates.
I grew more frustrated with these themes, that's why I think mobile themes are no longer a need to:
It is a waste of time for readers like me who quickly search for the 'desktop' button. This should probably be number one, because it is my greatest beast - there is no Twitter button in the mobile theme! This means that I do not share your position without jumping through hoops 50 000 (which I do not have the time for, BTW). No sharing on Facebook, Stumbleupon, Google + - nada! More mobile themes remove the sharing buttons that are otherwise available on the regular version of a blog. I have no problem using the Tweet button from my phone otherwise, and to communicate a position, I must first go to the regular version if the option exists. The ComLuv plugin rarely works properly, if this is even an option. No "last post" is available, unless that lost time to pass to the regular version. They are obsolete! Many people have more updated phones now which are capable of viewing blogs in their normal state. And for those who can not-, there is still the Opera Mini App that well enough you see a site in its entirety. It ruins your image of brand and makes your site look like all the others. It is visually uninteresting and most bloggers tend to use the same boring mobile theme. This is true, even my favorite sites like Problogger and Famousblogger are similar in the mobile world. The Visual elements that make these unique sites are no longer present.Mobile themes sometimes strip of images of the blog post. Yes, these cool images that typically draw visual learners are is no longer here. All time taken for the images of size, format and perfectly wasted on the eye of the mobile viewer.Videos may disappear in the mobile version. Therefore, if you skip the intro and the explanation of your video, mobile users don't know even what they are missing. So to optimize your blog for mobile…Unless you have a major site, there is no real benefit of mobile monetization, Adsense for mobile clicks are generally less than a dollar. In addition, when I consider the regular version of a site, the regular Adsense ads appear just fine.If really, I don't see a need for version mobile anymore. Perhaps last year would have been still an essential element, but no more. With all the tablets, iPhone and Android-powered devices, mobile view is not limited that it was.
I chose to create a mobile version for WeBlogBetter. What do you think about it? If you view this blog via a mobile browser, is there a convenience I am missing? What you have optimized your site for mobile? What is your experience with mobile monetization?
